On December 31st, 2012, I received an email from one of the editors of Style Me Pretty, one of the most popular wedding blogs in the States. I had submitted the DIY backyard wedding that Gemma & Scott had in Tenterfield, New South Wales, Australia. I’ve submitted before, and not very surprisingly was turned down. I thought…well this was a pretty awesome wedding, and it was in another country [which is a huge deal to me!] so maybe I had a chance.
I see this email with a ‘Congratulations!’ in the first line…I couldn’t believe it. I called one of my close photog friends and asked…”Hey…I got a submission accepted!…..should I be excited or is this not as big a deal as I think it is??” to which she replied, “Um…I’ve submitted a few and not got accepted, so yeah, I’d say it’s a pretty big deal. I’d be ecstatic!”.
Why I needed another’s permission to make a big deal of it, I don’t know. I guess because I didn’t really believe it was happening, or that maybe it wasn’t as hard as I thought it was. But oh yes…it is. Style Me Pretty gets TONS of submissions every day. Thousands. And I know that they feature a lot of weddings, but still. I feel so honored. I feel that another step has been taken in this journey that I’m on. I feel more validation. I feel appreciation. And I feel pride.
On the 2nd of January, 2013, Style Me Pretty|Australia featured my destination wedding. What. A. Way. To. Start. A. Year. 2013 has been a blessing so far and I can only hope that the rest of the year will be just as brilliant! If you’d like to see the feature, you can click HERE. :)
Cheers!
