A few weeks ago, I traveled to Charleston, South Carolina for the first time.  This place is quaint, small, big, historic, southern, beachy, european….I could go on.  It’s like no other place I’ve been.  So many little mom and pop shops to discover, hidden alley’s, charm, great food, oversized porches, gas lanterns, clean safe streets….so naturally, I needed to shoot.  Thanks to Houston Bridal Gallery, All That Blooms, and a bundle of my favorite….Lavender from L’Occitane en Provence, we set out on a very simplistic styled shoot in nothing less than the most challenging time of day.  Below is a small account of what was captured.  This goes to show that you don’t have to think inside the box when taking bridal portraits in the South.  Of course the plantations are timeless, romantic, and beautiful– but sometimes they aren’t available, or the bride can’t afford to pay the fee.  Still, you can find amazing places wherever you go, and on any budget.;)

Megan & Matthew had their beautiful day this May, reading each other sweet vows, sharing amongst intimate family and friends.  They found each other by chance, and they are just perfect for each other.  Such a sweet couple, and I’m so glad I could be there to share in celebrating and capture their special moments.

JaRhonda and Harlan are such awesome people.  When they came in for their consult, we sat and talked and talked…not specifically about wedding business, but also about hobbies, sports, our fur babies…so naturally when the engagement shoot came around, we were all SUPER comfortable!  They laughed and danced and smiled, and we ran from bee’s…fun stuff!  Guys, spending the afternoon with you, Bone & Stinky was my pleasure.  I’m so glad I get to share your big day!

I cannot say enough good things about Sandy and Aaron.  She was relaxed, up for anything, and he was so into the picture scene, he was probably the best groom I’ve ever had!  I’m so grateful that these two chose me to capture their special day.  It was amazingly beautiful with a fun crowd and gorgeous scenery.  Please enjoy their wedding day memories below;) I also have to give major thanks to my second shooter, Sasha.  You’re my right hand!!

What’s a wedding without the groom and his party sneaking away for brandy and cigars??!

This image to the left below just reminds me of that scene in Good Will Hunting…..”Retainerrrrrrrrrr”

Last month, I had the pleasure of experiencing my first Indian wedding with none other than Ben Sassani of Sassani Photography.  He was kind enough to invite me along to get a feel for the day, and it was so incredibly beautiful!  So many traditions and an abundance of color.  Below is an account of what I got to capture during this special time.

Max is here!  Boy can he eat…he must have been eating constantly throughout our whole session!  He did SO well for his newborn session and mommy does just awesome with him.  Doesn’t she look beautiful?  Congrats Nick and Taryn on your beautiful new family;)

This picture on the right below is my absolute favorite.  Is she not a beautiful mother?!  Those freckles….I DIE!

…and then, at long last…he’s just plum exhausted from his debut.  No more pictures, please.  Kthanks.
